Artistic Residency Program in Bogotá

Casataller Niebla

Geraldine Ramírez Vallejo

Painting, Drawing, Illustration, Weaving

This is an ideal space for reading, feeling-thinking, drawing, painting, weaving, writing, and sharing conversations; but above all, it’s a space to h a b i t a r—to inhabit—savoring each of the letters that make up that word. A studio that is also a home and a gathering place for friends, loved ones, and artists.

Geraldine celebrates spaces where food is shared while creating, and where the boundaries between art forms are blurred. That’s exactly what happens in this house.

Facilities

This is a studio that is also a home. The apartment is shared with two other people. The bathroom and kitchen are shared spaces. The building has two visitor parking spots, subject to availability.

The space is equipped with basic furniture, including a large desk that can accommodate multiple people, chairs, and stools. Available materials include brushes, colored pencils, graphite pencils, markers, pastels, rulers, cutters, cutting surface, sandpaper, various types of paper, wool, thick needles, a computer, tripod, scanner, and basic stationery.

There is also a family library with books on art, film, photography, poetry, ecology, biology, contemporary fiction, illustrated picture books, and children’s non-fiction.

Schedule

Tuesday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., unless a special arrangement is made with the resident.

Artists in the space

Geraldine Ramírez was born in Bogotá (1991), where she currently lives and works. She is an artist and a graduate in Architecture from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá (2013). Between 2018 and 2019, she completed a postgraduate program in Art Mediation/Art for Social Transformation at the University of Barcelona (UB).

She has spent several years mapping emotions through drawing, visual poetry, illustration, and painting. Her work continuously seeks to build affective memories of experiences, of the emotions that move through us, of the homes we inhabit, and of the territories that inhabit us.

Geraldine has over seven years of experience in the Colombian publishing sector and has illustrated books for publishers such as Cardumen Libros, Penguin Random House, Sincronía Casa Editorial, and Lazo Libros. In 2024, she and the Lazo Libros team received the Lápiz de Acero Award for the project with the greatest social impact, for the book Chocó: selva, lluvia, río y mar.

Since 2022, she has coordinated Lo que habitamos, a co-learning and community platform that nurtures wonder, deep listening, and joy through art, writing, and collective rituals. It is a refuge—both physical and virtual—for weaving ways of co-inhabiting the Earth and co-creating alternative narratives.

She is currently writing and illustrating her first children's picture book.
