R.A.R.O. (Residencias Artísticas Raramente Organizadas / Rarely Organized Artistic Residencies) is an international residency program that challenges the traditional model. It is a self-managed program that chooses not to establish itself in a single physical space, but rather to articulate a collaborative network of more than 20 local artists' studios that host residents in their own spaces and support the development of their creative processes.
The program began in 2014 in the city of Buenos Aires, where it has hosted over 300 artists from different parts of the world. Since 2024, it has also operated in Bogotá, where it has already hosted over 70 artists. Throughout its history, the program has consolidated alliances with various institutions to promote scholarship programs, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening artistic production and interdisciplinary exchange through itinerant residencies.
R.A.R.O.'s proposal offers artists the opportunity to work alongside colleagues, curators, managers, and researchers for specific periods, generating spaces for dialogue, reflection, and collaboration. In addition to working in the network's workshops, the program offers complementary activities such as studio visits, public and private collections tours, talks, field trips, and portfolio review sessions (clínicas de obra), thus enriching the experience of each resident.
