R.A.R.O. (Rarely Organized Artistic Residencies) is an international residency program that challenges the traditional model. It is a self-managed program that chooses not to establish itself in a single physical space but instead creates a collaborative network of over 15 local artist studios, where residents are welcomed into the artists' own spaces and accompanied in the development of their creative processes.
Founded in 2014 in Buenos Aires, R.A.R.O. has since hosted over 200 artists from around the world. Since 2024, the program has also been active in Bogotá, where it has already received 38 artists. Throughout its history, R.A.R.O. has built partnerships with various institutions to support scholarship programs, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening artistic production and interdisciplinary exchange through itinerant residencies.
R.A.R.O.’s approach offers artists the opportunity to work alongside peers, curators, cultural managers, and researchers during specific periods, creating spaces for dialogue, reflection, and collaboration. In addition to working in the network’s studios, the program also offers complementary activities such as studio visits, tours of public and private collections, talks, field trips, and work clinics, further enriching each resident's experience.
