What is included in the residency fee?

Depending on the selected format, the fee generally covers the use of the R.A.R.O. Network studios, participation in workshops, curatorial guidance, and the management of program activities. It does not include accommodation, national or international travel, working materials, or living expenses. We recommend reviewing the details of each format for specific information.

Question 4

Does R.A.R.O. Buenos Aires provide accommodation?

We do not offer direct accommodation, but we have a network of contacts and partner spaces that we can recommend. We can facilitate the arrangements with these locations to ensure that residents have a comfortable stay in the city, preferably near the studios where they will be developing their work. Similarly, each resident is free to stay in the location of their choice.

In which language is the residency conducted?

Our programs are conducted in Spanish and English. Since we host participants from diverse backgrounds, English often serves as a common bridge; however, Spanish is the primary language as it is the local tongue. While speaking Spanish is not mandatory, the R.A.R.O. team will provide support to those who do not speak it, provided the resident maintains an open attitude toward adapting to these communication conditions.

Can I apply if I have Argentine nationality or reside in Argentina?

Yes. The program is open to people of any nationality and country of residence. There are no origin-based restrictions to participate in any of our open calls.

How does the selection process work?

Accepted Answer

The applicant must complete the application form, ensuring they share all the required information (see the application section). Once the complete proposal is received, the R.A.R.O. Buenos Aires selection committee will review it and send a response within approximately three weeks. It is essential to submit all documentation in full for the review to be favorable.

How does the studio selection process work?

The minimum stay in each studio is one week, regardless of the chosen format, and the resident has the option to extend their stay if they so wish. When completing the application form, the resident may indicate their studio preferences; however, the final assignment will be made by the R.A.R.O. team, considering said choice, the availability of the spaces in the calendar, and the technical relevance to the project to be developed.

Is it necessary to have health insurance to participate?

Although R.A.R.O. does not formally require residents to have health insurance, we strongly recommend obtaining one; in Argentina, there is still universal access to medical care for foreigners. R.A.R.O. does not provide this type of coverage, and managing it is the sole responsibility of each participant.
