Artistic Residency Program in Bogotá
Felipe Lozano Studio
Felipe Lozano
Painting, Drawing, Installation, Video Art, Sound Art, Photography
This is an exclusive workspace dedicated as a studio, conceived as a place for creation and research. During the residency, Felipe Lozano will oversee the space and guide the resident artist through weekly sessions focused on the project's technical and conceptual development. Drawing from his experience as both artist and educator, he will share tools to strengthen visual language, pose critical questions, and enrich creative processes.
The studio occupies the top floor of a building in Bogotá's San Felipe neighborhood, designated as the city's creative district. This area boasts the highest concentration of galleries, artist studios, and cultural initiatives in Bogotá. Its location on Calle 72, just two blocks from Avenida Caracas —two of the city's main arteries— provides easy access to all urban areas. These conditions create an ideal environment for artistic creation, exchange, and reflection.
Facilities
The studio offers over 200 m² of workspace on the top floor of a building in Bogotá's San Felipe neighborhood, declared the city's creative district. This area is known for its high concentration of galleries, artist studios, and cultural industries. The space is in excellent condition, benefiting from abundant natural light through perimeter windows and skylights that create an expansive, luminous atmosphere.
It features a terrace, a shared kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator, electric oven, stove, microwave, and complete cookware, along with a well-stocked library. Given its conditions, the space is particularly suited for two-dimensional techniques like painting and drawing, while also accommodating three-dimensional, installation-based, or new media practices. Additionally, it includes a lounge area designed for meetings, conversations, and informal gatherings.

Artists in the space

Visual artist and university professor based in Bogotá, Colombia. Meritorious graduate of Fine Arts from ASAB Faculty of Arts at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, and holder of a Master's in Art Research and Creation from Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. His artistic practice spans painting, video, installation, and digital media. His projects emerge from autobiographical exploration—beginning with his conception through assisted reproduction technology—to address broader questions about the human condition as an interplay of desire, death, technology, transcendence impulses, and representation systems. Through diverse visual languages, he examines themes like desire, mortality, life's origins, the drive to transcend, to create new technologies for manufactured needs, to reproduce, to improve, to consume, and to display.
