Sofía Sandoval (Costa Rica)

Sofía Sandoval se interesa por la creación interdisciplinar. Su investigación se desarrolla a través de la escritura performática, la desconfiguración de la danza oriental, la investigación de algunos objetos-materias y su herencia para los cuerpos de las mujeres.

Durante su residencia, Sofía se propuso realizar un tríptico performático en base a tres figuras bíblicas conocidas como La Verónica, María Magdalena y La Samaritana. A partir de la reflexión sobre estas representaciones, buscó visibilizar los desafíos y vivencias que acompañan la sexualidad de los cuerpos clasificados como mujeres; cuestionado, así, las mitologías y su representación dentro del erotismo: la santa, la puta y la mujer monstrua.

Sofía Sandoval is interested in interdisciplinary creation. Her research is carried out through performative writing, the disconfiguration of oriental dance, the investigation of some object-matters and her inheritance for women's bodies.

During her residency, Sofía set out to create a performative triptych based on three biblical figures known as La Verónica, María Magdalena and La Samaritana. Based on her reflection on these representations, she sought to make visible the challenges and experiences that accompany the sexuality of bodies classified as women; Thus, she questioned mythologies and their representation within eroticism: the saint, the whore and the monster woman.
