Since 2014, R.A.R.O. (Residencias Artísticas Raramente Organizadas) has developed an itinerant and self-managed model that transforms the residency into a journey among artists' studios, cultural spaces, and institutions. It operates on the understanding that contemporary creation arises from exchange, situated research, and the opportunity to move across diverse contexts, methodologies, and forms of knowledge.

Rather than merely offering a workspace, R.A.R.O. proposes a way of inhabiting the territory through art. Each residency is uniquely tailored to each artist and cohort, connecting a network of more than 50 local artists' studios that support research and production processes through hands-on practice, dialogue, and collaboration—both in person and through virtual encounters.

Founded in Buenos Aires in 2014, where it has hosted over 450 artists from around the world, R.A.R.O. also launched a location in Madrid and, since 2024, has maintained a permanent program in Bogotá, having already welcomed over 90 artists. Through this international network, it fosters artistic mobility, peer-to-peer learning, and the building of lasting connections among artists, curators, educators, communities, and institutions.

Knowledge is generated in relation to others. For this reason, each residency is a shared research experience that expands the possibilities of artistic practice and strengthens the ties between local and international art scenes.
