Residencies
Artistic Residency Program in Buenos Aires
Programs
At R.A.R.O. Buenos Aires, we have three residency formats based on the artists' interests, processes, and available time. Learn about the open calls.
Macro-Residencies (two sessions per year).
Our most common format consists of a residency period lasting five (5) to six (6) weeks. Of this time, four (4) weeks are dedicated to working in the selected workshops. There, residents can develop their processes, coincide with other artists in the program, and meet the local artists working in each location. Subsequently, the residency will conclude with one (1) week for the final exhibition/show. During this week, and alongside an installation team and the session's curator, each resident will receive the necessary support so the group can exhibit the processes they worked on during the program.
Additionally, residents will have curatorial meetings, workshops and advising from the R.A.R.O. Team, tours and visits to the city's art circuit, and group photographic documentation.
Micro-Residencies (any time of the year).
This is a shorter program, but with the same intensity and support, allowing R.A.R.O. residents to work in their different disciplines with the support of our network of ateliers. It includes: weeks of work in the R.A.R.O. Network workshops, advising from the R.A.R.O. Team, and tours and visits to the city's art circuit.
Micro-Residency A Isla (More information coming soon).
A Isla is a short experience on the outskirts of Bogotá. The objective of this residency is introspection, self-observation, silent spaces, and complementary activities for project follow-up and exploration of personal processes alongside the group of residents and the team of managers, artists, and curators who are part of the proposal. Each day proposes a specific dynamic that includes hours of silence, physical practices, free time for swimming, reading, or walking, creative writing exercises, territorial explorations, self-management meetings, and portfolio review sessions (clínica de obra).

Itinerant Dynamics
The core of the R.A.R.O. residencies is the opportunity to create, collaborate, and share with various artists in their studios during the residency period.
The decentralized and itinerant nature of the program allows residents to work in two or more local artist studios in Buenos Aires over a short period, delving into one or several disciplines. Thanks to the network of local artist spaces that make up the project, each resident can choose where to carry out part of their production and develop collaborative work.
The selection of studios depends on the techniques each artist wishes to explore and on each studio’s availability.
During their stay, residents will be able to share their work and connect with local artists, curators, collectors, and researchers.
In the case of the full residency, the work produced will be presented in a final exhibition, and residents will be supported by invited curators throughout the process.
R.A.R.O. Dates
We currently have two sessions of the Macro-Residency and one Micro-Residency A Isla per year. For Micro-Residencies, the open call is available to take place at any time of the year, and dates can be agreed upon according to the studios' availability.
Participants
R.A.R.O. residencies are open to artists, researchers, managers, curators, and other professionals, both from the arts field and other disciplines, who are interested in generating spaces for reflection, production, and exchange.
Fees, Grants and Opportunities
The cost of each residency varies according to the duration and the chosen program format. To inquire about the cost of a specific residency, you can send a message to info@esraro.com or consult the contact section of our website.
Interested artists can apply for some of the scholarships we periodically grant or apply for parallel funding; in that case, the R.A.R.O. team will provide letters of invitation and all necessary documentation to access them.
