Linda Pongutá
Sculpture, painting, installation, and site-specific work
Linda Pongutá is a plastic artist, with an emphasis on sculpture and community work, approaches indigenous thinking and criticizes thought associated with extractivism. Through her work, she engages with the diversity of life, creating opportunities for freedom and expansion in places, activities, and stories where their absence is felt. From the experience as a container of ideas that shapes the world, she observes materials and objects, seeks flaws and ramifications that allow for experiencing a situation in a different way, making the present moment tangible. Her work depends on the places where she lives, aware that space constantly transforms questions. She seeks an intermediary, a lapse, a kind of moment of strangeness where seemingly distant states are reconciled in a cross-temporal, fossilized, and unstable temporality.
