Laura Ceballos
Sculpture, painting, installation, and site-specific work
Laura Ceballos Castilla is a professor, researcher, and artist. She teaches at the School of Creation at Universidad del Rosario, where she leads the “Material Experimentation Workshop” course. Her interests lie at the intersection of art and education. In her practice, she creates collaborative spaces and experimental laboratories to explore the environment. She is the coordinator of the collective Material de Estudio, which critically engages with the availability of local materials, explores life cycles, production processes, and waste, and fosters creation in dialogue with nature and territory.
She is currently a PhD candidate in the program La Realidad Asediada: Concepto, Proceso y Experimentación Artística, in the research line “Art, Nature, and Environment” at the University of Barcelona, where she investigates creative relationships with a species of Guadua bamboo endemic to the Amazon. She holds a Master’s degree in Artistic Production and Research from the University of Barcelona (2013).
Laura has also taught in the Department of Art at Universidad de los Andes (2014–2019) and in the Visual Arts program at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (2018–2022), focusing on courses related to sculpture.
